There is so much we, the so called "civilized" world, could learn from them, if only we were willing. Especially that weaving is so utterly amazing and beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing this. And my heart-felt apologies for everything that has been and unfortunately still is being done to you and your ways of living. Thank you for keeping your wisdom alive - and that you are willing to share it - inspite of all the hardship.

I live on the ceremonial ground of our Caddo Tribe people here in East Texas. The spirit world showed me how they lived and what happened to them when their land was tooken away from them 😢

The challenge lies in the perception among some Indigenous communities that non-Indigenous individuals are separate from their own, which can lead to a lack of shared knowledge and values. The profound understanding, innovative ideas, and deep respect that native peoples hold for the land often remain uncommunicated to those outside their communities. Consequently, large segments of the population may lack awareness or appreciation for these natural environments. This disconnect can result in the pollution and destruction of these lands-affecting not only the areas inhabited by non-Indigenous people but also the ancestral territories of Indigenous communities.

It already feels like the greedy ones are purposely poisoning the land to make things "rare" so they can charge for it. Capitalism is really bad for nature. It is all about taking from the Earth for a profit. It is a very dangerous system that has gotten out of control. It will be hard to dismantle because people are afraid of it, I think. It has become an uncontrollable monster. I feel listening and learning from the tribes will help heal. Tell us that it is ok to want to be in balance with the mother Earth. More balance and sustainability does not mean we have to give up all of our tech or eating out at Applebee's. We can try to find a balance where communities garden together and share memes and recycle our broken laptops or whatnot. Talk about what we would like to help the Earth with or just plain old listen to nature A LOT more. I need to do that. Ok. think it is time to take a tech break, lol.

I cannot find anywhere on Arizona gov/US Forest service mentioning red heart cedar is off limits to cut? I would think it would be. I was told even on Apache Res in the White Mountains Native Americans are no longer allowed to cut them down? Does someone know? They use to maks thierway to the valley and cities along the way

This made me want to find a person(s) or place to learn more about weaving. Plus, I do believe we need to listen to Native Americans when it comes to the environment. Learning about what is good for the Earth and trees is very important. So sad that there is only 1% Native Americans left and 2% trees. That needs to be turned around.

As a New Zealander, our reconciliation process is farrrrr from perfect, but at least the past is acknowledged and processes for equity are ongoing. Don't take any shit from governments, and educating the general public about the true extent of your losses is the best way to get them on your side. It can happen; in my lifetime, the change in attitude toward Maori culture and the treaty process has been huge, and positive. Kicking back is the only way to recover your due. Don't wait for anyone to give you permission.
